Imagine a food drive that can collect nearly 221,028 pounds of food in a single day. Now imagine the number of people that could be fed with all those donations.

Ithaca Dining Services is proud to announce our next campus dining promotion: Cans Across America. This event is particularly unique because it combines a nationwide stop hunger initiative with a rewarding experience in which students, faculty, and staff can all be proud to participate. This promotion is a great way to get involved and make a positive impact.

Collection locations will include: Terrace Dining Hall, Towers Dining Hall, Campus Center Dining Hall, IC Square, and Sub Connection.

Our focus will be on setting a Guinness® World Record for the most canned and non-perishable goods collected in a 24-hour period. Ithaca College will be joining other college campuses across the country in an attempt to set this record.

While last year's collections fell just short of the current world record of 221,028.85 pounds, Ithaca Dining Services is determined to make this year's event bigger and better than last year. Can collection for Cans Across America 2007 will take place all day on Wednesday, November 7, in all dining halls.

We invite everyone to come out and contribute to stop the fight against hunger. All proceeds will benefit the Freeville Food Pantry.
