The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series will feature the documentary, Transparent, on Monday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 103.

Pink or blue. Male or female. Mommy or daddy. Categories that are often taken for granted as simple and concrete dichotomies are blown wide open in this documentary about 19 female-to-male transsexuals who have given birth and, in all but a few cases, gone on to raise their biological children.

The film reveals the diverse ways in which each person reconciles this part of their history—giving birth and being a biological mother, now that they identify as male.

The screening is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Education, Outreach and Services, the film series focuses on the ways people transcend, challenge, and redefine gender as we know it.
