The Shuhan Hayghe Trio -- Elizabeth Shuhan, flute; Alex Shuhan, French horn; and Jennifer Hayghe, piano -- will present a free recital at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College.
The program features the three in various combinations: Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise," a Rheinberger sonata for horn and piano, a Schubert work for flute and piano, and Weber's trio for flute, horn, and piano.
Alexander Shuhan, associate professor of horn at Ithaca College, is a founding member of Rhythm & Brass, an international touring, performing, and recording ensemble. He is principal horn with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and performs frequently with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. He also performs regularly at the Skaneateles Chamber Music Festival.
Elizabeth Shuhan is on the private flute instruction faculty at Cornell University. She is an active freelance flutist in the central New York region and regularly performs chamber music as a member of the Shuhan Duo. As the current principal flutist with the Fort Smith Symphony (AR), she has recorded for the Naxos label.
Jennifer Hayghe, assistant professor of piano at Ithaca College, has performed in solo recitals and made orchestral appearances throughout the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia. Hayghe received her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in piano performance from the Juilliard School, where she won every award possible for a Juilliard pianist to receive, including the William Petschek Debut Award, resulting in her New York City recital debut at Alice Tully Hall.
