The Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) presents a play performance Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom. This is the last event of the fall 2007 series, "The Prison Machine: Race, Torture, and the State." The series explores the incarceration of people of color with a focus on intersections of race, torture, and the state.

Please join us for a compelling, riveting staged reading exploring the lives of the detainees of Guantanamo, their parents, brothers, and lawyers. This event will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in Clark Lounge, Campus Center.

The play is directed by Magaret P. Goldsmith. The assistant director is Billie Dawn Greenblatt '10. The cast includes community members Leslyn McBean-Clairborne, Leslie Jones, and Jed Ashton. The faculty presenter is Alan Gomez, assistant professor of Latino/a studies, CSCRE. The cast includes Alex Rosenblatt '09, Leah Arpadi '10, Erik Francese '09, Michael Amadeo '10, Victoria Fiordalis '09, Brooke Reynolds '10, Alex Recchio '09, Dan Halpern '11, Jessica Myers '09, and Noah Drori '11. The technical staff includes Robert Sparks, a community member and Will Holets '11, Ben Tietz '09, Caroline Varney '08, and Fallon Blossom '09. Our costume consultant is Rachel Vanderpool Rosario, assisted by Natasha Tanner '11. Kelly VanPelt '08 is handling publicity.
