A recent study in the Journal of Economic Education (Seigfried, J.J. and W.A. Stock, "The Undergraduate Origins of Ph.D. Economists," Fall 2007, pp. 461-482) ranks the Department of Economics at Ithaca College in the top 25 in the nation in terms of alumni success in graduate school.

The study considers the percentage of department graduates that go on to earn a Ph.D. MIT is two notches above us, sending 8 percent of their economics majors on to obtain PhDs. Our department stands at 6 percent.

Absolute kudos to the Econ department! This is a very impressive statistic, and
we can all be proud of their, and their students' especially, good work.
