Celebrate V-Day early with a special opportunity to meet the filmmaker who created a film about the first all-transgender production of Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues. The film tells the story of a very special production of the Vagina Monologues by transgender women, in collaboration with Eve Ensler herself.
On Wednesday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 102, filmmaker Josh Aronson will introduce the film, Beautiful Daughters, and hold a Q&A session about this groundbreaking project.
From the initial interviews with trans women (which led Eve Ensler to write a new transgender-themed monologue for this production), through weeks of auditions and rehearsals, and on to dress rehearsals, opening night jitters, a star-studded Hollywood audience, and then the performance itself -- Beautiful Daughters captures it all in a one-hour film.
Award-winning filmmaker Josh Aronson has completed numerous documentary films and directed hundreds of commercials and music videos. Prior to working in film, he was a still photographer working as a photo correspondent for Time-Life and other journals. He is a concert pianist and regularly plays chamber music in New York and at Telluride MusicFest, the chamber music festival he co-founded.
