Celebrate Black History Month

February 1 marks the start of Black History Month. Come out and celebrate a history rich in culture, beauty, and accomplishment. The African-Latino Society (ALS), the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), and the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (CSLI) will hold a number of events this month. Join together for both education and entertainment This year's events will start off with the annual flag-raising ceremony, February 1 at 12 noon.

Black History Month Events

February 1: Annual flag-raising ceremony in the academic quad by Campus Center flagpole.
(Note: in the event of inclement weather, opening ceremony will occur in Klingenstein Lounge.)

February 5: All Power To The People film screening in Textor 103

February 6: ALS first general body meeting
(West Tower ALS room, 7:00 p.m.)

February 7: National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day with speaker Michelle Lopez, presented by CSLI. (Kling. 6:45pm)

February 12: Black History Month Jeopardy
(West Tower ALS room, 7:00 p.m.)

Februrary 19: How Do I Look film screening by LGBT Resource Center
(Textor 102, 7:00 p.m.)

February 20: ALS general body meeting with Sean Eversley-Bradwell
(West Tower ALS room, 7:00 p.m.)

February 21: What Black Men Think film screening
(Location TBA)

February 25 "Soul and Sound" Jazz Dinner and Showcase
Admission $7 with student ID
(Emerson Suites, 8:00 p.m.)

February 26: "Taste of Soul"
(Terrace Dining Hall, 4:00 p.m.)

February 27: Jeff Johnson, presented by OMA
(Emerson Suites, 7:00 p.m.)

February 29: Black History Month concert, presented by the School of Music
(Ford Hall, 7:00 p.m.)
