David Turkon, assistant professor of anthropology, was elected chair of Graduate Student Paper Award Committee for the Association for Africanist Anthropology (AfAA).

The AfAA is a subsection of the American Anthropological Association (AAA). The award is chosen each year from papers that are submitted by graduate students from around the world, and who are presenting their work at the annual meetings of AAA. The award entails a certificate and a $500 prize.
