On Monday, February 18, at 4:00 p.m., Sarah Brylinsky and Kendra Lynn will tackle one of our more unusual topics: "Sustainable Menstruation." This Sustainability Café will be held in Room 204 in the School of Business.
The menstrual cycle is one of nature's most sustaining and life-giving rituals, a time each month when the regulation of life becomes a physical reality. Why has this sacred part of women's lives become commodified by industries whose products are not only often unnecessary for a clean and healthy period, but sometimes laden with chemicals, like bleach, that damage the most sensitive parts of our bodies? Learn about alternative and organic products that have been and are being used by women across the globe for a natural and product-sustainable menstruation.
"Teachable edibles" -- seasonal, organic, and/or local foods -- for the spring 2008 Sustainability Café series will be provided by Ithaca College Dining Services. Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the drinking fountain or bring a beverage of choice.
Drink in a new way to think in the Sustainability Café.
