The Class of 2008 is raising funds to endow a "scholarship for experiential learning" (unpaid internships) as its senior class gift. They have set a goal of $25,000 for the project, and $35,000 for the overall campaign. They are well on their way toward achieving these goals, but need some assistance from the Ithaca College community.
During their "2008 Hours until Graduation" reception, they will hold a raffle to encourage seniors to participate as donors. This year, they received a very special item as a donation: a New York Rangers jersey worn by Eric Lindros during the first half of the 2001–02 NHL regular season.
The jersey comes complete with a certificate of registration and letter of authenticity. There are two sewn-in tags on the jersey showing the season worn, and it has a commemorative 9/11 ribbon sewn on it. The jersey is autographed on the inside.
Lindros was the first player chosen in the 1991 draft, and is an MVP award winner, a six-time all-star, and scored 372 goals in his career. He won an Olympic silver medal with Team Canada in the 1992 Winter Olympic Games and an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
The donor of the jersey has issued a very special fund-raising challenge -- he will triple whatever the class makes on this raffle! Seniors who attend the 2008 Hours celebration on Sunday, February 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. can purchase raffle tickets for this item for $5 at the event.
You can also purchase raffle tickets for $10 during tabling in Campus Center. Tabling will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18 through Friday, February 22, in the Campus Center lobby.
