The Office of Residential Life is extending the deadline to apply to our newest specialty housing option until February 29.
The pilot of a gender-neutral housing community will be offered on the odd-numbered side of the second floor in Eastman Hall. Students electing to live in gender-neutral housing will be able to live with the roommate of their choice -- regardless of their gender. Additionally, the bathroom on the floor will also be gender neutral. The bathroom will be renovated over the summer to create greater visual privacy for all students using the facility.
The Office of Residential Life is pleased to pilot this new option. We believe this option will address the needs of students who want to live in a community that is supportive of different sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as students who want to live in a location where they do not have to identify their gender in order to use the restroom facilities.
Students interested in living in gender-neutral housing can apply to do so by completing an application in the Office of Residential Life. Applications are available now and are due by February 29, 2008. Spaces on the floor will be awarded to students who sign the community agreement, in semester standing order.
