Brooke Hansen, of the Department of Anthropology, spoke on Saturday, March 1, at the sixth annual Ithaca College Women in Leadership Experience in Seneca Falls (renowned as the birthplace of women's rights).

Professor Hansen spoke about her experience as a community leader in acquiring and transferring a 70-acre organic farm to the traditional Cayuga Nation. Her talk included stories and anecdotes about the community group SHARE (Strengthening Haudenosaunee American Relations through Education), which she co-organized, and the trials and triumphs of educating the community on Native history and contemporary issues amidst the turmoil of a Native American land claim.

The IC Women in Leadership Experience also included a panel discussion with Barbara Mink, Susan Engelkemeyer (dean, School of Business), Tanya Saunders (dean, Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies) and Freida Jacques, Turtle Clan Mother, Onondaga Nation.
