Last week I sent an Intercom message to the campus community with the schedule of presidential candidate visits and indicating that the Presidential Search Committee would be sharing the names of the finalists in the very near future.
I had hoped that I would be able to provide the names prior to students and faculty departing this Friday for the much needed spring break. However, due to scheduling considerations for the candidates, the first announcement will not be able to be made until next week. I realize that this may not be optimal for those of you who will be traveling over the break period. However, I am doing my best to accommodate the needs of our finalists and to ensure a successful visit for each candidate.
Next week I will ask that an Intercom Alert be sent that outlines the names and credentials of the two candidates who will be on campus beginning with the first visit, March 17–18, and the second visit, March 19–20. The third candidate's name will be released on March 21 for that finalist's visit on March 25–26.
Included in each of the announcements will be a biography of the candidate and the schedule for his or her visit. You can find a copy of the schedule now by accessing the Presidential Search website from the link on the Ithaca College home page, or by going directly to www.ithaca.edu/president_search.
The site will be updated with each candidate's background once that information is released. For those who are interested, a copy of the candidate's full vita will be available at the individual campus session you will be attending.
This an exciting and interesting time for all members of the search committee as we prepare to share with you the results of our hard work over the last four months. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in the quality and accomplishments of our finalists.
I do hope you will take the time before leaving on spring break to note the times on your calendar for when the different campus constituencies will have meetings with the finalists. Your feedback will be actively solicited through comment forms that will be available at all sessions. These forms will then be shared with the Presidential Search Committee and ultimately the entire board of trustees.
