Asma Barlas, professor of politics and director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, has arrived in the Netherlands and begun her three-month appointment to the Spinoza Chair at the University of Amsterdam.

Professor Barlas will deliver two public Spinoza Lectures: "Believing Women in Islam: Between Secular and Religious Politics and Theology" and "Would Spinoza Understand Me? Europe, Islam, and the Mirror of Difference."

The College congratulates Professor Barlas on joining the most distinguished company of Spinoza scholars from around the world.
