On Monday, April 7, the Kiwanis Club of Ithaca presented Ithaca College Public Safety Patrol Officer Michael Hall with the Frank G. Hammer Officer of the Month Award for April 2008.
Officer Hall joined the Office of Public Safety in February 2002 as a security officer and was promoted to the rank of patrol officer in March 2006.
In the short period of time from his promotion and graduation from the Broome County Law Enforcement Academy in October 2006, Officer Hall has demonstrated outstanding contributions in several areas of law enforcement. He has been proactive in his enforcement of New York State vehicle and traffic laws here on campus. He consistently detects law violators and issues numerous traffic summonses. He is currently leading the department in arrests for driving-while-intoxicated incidents and has demonstrated excellent initiative working on many drug investigations.
He tirelessly develops leads and identifies witnesses, which has resulted in the identification and judicial prosecution of several persons, not only for drug possession but also for the sale of drugs and other illegal substances.
Although a soft-spoken individual, Officer Hall readily establishes an immediate rapport and earns respect from those he comes in contact with, whether victim, witness, or perpetrator.
Officer Hall is a part-time employee of both the Dryden and Groton Police Departments; he is also an assistant chief with the Dryden Fire Department. Mike is a graduate of Dryden High School and Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). He is married to Staci Hall, who also works at Ithaca College in the Office of Conferences and Event Services. The couple has a 4-year-old daughter.
