In order to address students' desires of healthier eating, Ithaca Dining Services will be offering students a new program called the Balanced Way, starting in fall 2008.
The Balanced Way program, included with your meal plan, will be available in all three dining halls.
The Balanced Way focuses on how to eat, not how to diet. It offers students sound education tools while using complete, balanced meals. Overall, it is an easy way to get healthy, delicious, and satisfying food options at your dining experience.
The plates given to students contain balanced and healthy portions of starches, vegetables, and meats. All meals are less than or equal to 600 calories with less than 30 percent coming from fat, and supplying at least 3 grams of fiber. The dishes will provide a healthy and delicious alternative to dining hall food, and are great for anyone looking to live a healthier lifestyle.
Ithaca Dining Services is holding a preview day on Wednesday, April 23, for the Balanced Way. Those who are interested in tasting the new program can do so in all three dining halls. Breakfast will be hosted by Towers Dining Hall, lunch will be hosted by Campus Center Dining Hall, and dinner will be hosted by the Terrace Dining Hall. All three venues will feature the sample meal of the day, information about the program, and giveaways for all who attend.
