Learning by Design, the Lilly-East Conference on College and University Teaching, held April 17-18 at the University of Delaware, included five presentations by Ithaca College faculty members.
Ann Kolodji, Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, presented "Promoting Higher-Level Thinking When Teaching Sensitive and Controversial Subjects." James Gray, Department of Sport Management and Media, presented "Helping Students Develop Their Analytical Abilities through Research and Writing." Lauren O'Connell, Department of Art History, presented "3-D Modeling in the Liberal Arts Classroom: Visualizing 'Great Spaces' in Google SketchUp." Susanne Morgan, Department of Sociology and Center for Faculty Excellence, presented "Quantitative Literacy and Health Promotion with Juicy Data."
Julia Lapp, Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, was unable to travel to present her session, "Putting It into Practice: Student Behavior Change as Course Objective."
This conference is one of many peer-reviewed venues for presenting scholarship of teaching and learning and at the same time engaging in workshops and discussions about many aspects of teaching.
