Nancy Ramage, professor emerita in the Department of Art History, has published a book, entitled The Cone Sisters of Baltimore: Collecting at Full Tilt (Northwestern University Press).

Written with her mother, Ellen B. Hirschland (who was also an art historian), it tells the remarkable story of two Victorian women who collected avant-garde art in the early twentieth century, and who were close friends with Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Gertrude Stein.

Dear Nancy,

Congratulations!! I know this book has been a labor of both professional and
personal love, and it is gratifying to know that it has appeared. Your mother
would be very proud...as are the rest of us.

Warm regards,
