It seems as if every day we learn of another family member or coworker who is battling cancer. Many of us on campus are trying to do something about that by participating in the Tompkins County Relay for Life July 11-12. Please support us by stopping by our tables in the Campus Center lobby July 1, 2, and 8 (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. each day) by taking a chance on a raffle, buying some goodies, or buying a luminaria bag to honor someone fighting cancer or who has lost a life to cancer. Here's what we will have:

In keeping with the Relay theme of Have a RELAY Happy New Year, we have nine incredible gift baskets with "New Year's Resolutions" themes! From a cooler filled with meat to children's books, we have everything to tickle your fancy! Ticket prices are $1 for 1, $5 for 7, or $10 for 15.

Feeling lucky and want some quick and easy cash? Take some chances on our 50/50 raffle! Last year's winner walked away with big winnings! Ticket prices are the same as the baskets.

Know someone fighting cancer or who has just lost a loved one to cancer? Buy some of Andrea McClatchie's incredibly beautiful handmade encouragement cards! These are so pretty that many are buying them just to frame them! Cards are $2 each or 3 for $5.

"Help us Lick Cancer" treats are also being sold. Buy two Tootsie Roll pops and get a New Year's Resolution as a bonus! Pops and a resolution are $1.

Bring out the artist in yourself and buy a luminaria bag that will be taken to the Relay site and be part of the moving luminaria lighting ceremony that night. We will have markers for you to decorate the bags you buy, or you can ask one of our creative team members to do that for you! Bags are $5 each.

Last but not least, many of you will be receiving letters from our team members asking for a donation to support the cause. We are in rough times these days, with the economy down and gas prices up. We ask that you please consider doing anything to help if you can. Our team members are faculty, staff, and administrators from all areas of campus as well as alumni, friends, and family. We are joined together to fight cancer the best way we know how -- by raising the funds necessary for research to find cures for cancer. Please help if you can!

As always, thank you! IC Hope is proud to represent our community at the Relay!
