As part of its efforts to keep the campus community aware and informed in the event of an emergency, Ithaca College has installed an outdoor public address warning system.

The system features two siren towers -- one on the roof of the Campus Center and one near the upper-campus athletic fields. In the event of an emergency, a siren tone will be used to alert the campus, followed by a loudspeaker message giving information and instructions on how to respond.

The public address warning system is a component of the college's comprehensive emergency response plan, which includes the Emergency Notification System (ENS). Members of the campus community are urged to sign up for the ENS, which provides alerts by voice mail, e-mail, and text message.

A test transmission of both systems will be conducted early in the fall semester.

For more information and to sign up for the ENS, visit www.ithaca.edu/emergency.
