The Center for Life Skills' (CLS) fall 2008 community service project is the focus of an article entitled, "Recreational Therapy: Healing Body and Spirit," written by Janice Elich Monroe, associate professor in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Students from the therapeutic recreation and speech pathology and audiology majors worked with CLS participants to collect food and supplies for the Tompkins County SPCA. This successful project resulted in over 10 laundry baskets of supplies being donated to the SPCA.

The project was supported by the Gerontology Institutes's Service Learning Grant. The article is published in the September/October 2008 Stroke Connection magazine.
