At the August 21 all-College staff meeting, President Tom Rochon identified a challenge for all staff to sit down with their supervisors to have a goal setting conversation by October 31, 2008. The purpose of this goal setting conversation is to decide what each employee and department's key accomplishments should be in the coming year.

In order to facilitate this process, there are ideas, tips, and examples available on the HR website:

Goal Setting: Fall 2008

Come back and visit this site often as we will continue to add resources that may be helpful (examples, other tips, etc.)

There are also 90-minute workshops scheduled which will focus on the importance and benefits of setting goals, how to write and communicate clear goals, and the positive impact this process has on performance and productivity.

Supervisors often ask, "How do I motivate my people? How do I effectively manage performance?" The goal-setting process, when done well, is one of the most effective tools a supervisor has in leading people and the organization to success.

Goal setting doesn't have to be complicated or feared or confusing!

Join us for one of the following workshops by calling or emailing Mary Tomaselli (274-1239).

  • Tuesday, September 23, 9:00-10:30 a.m., Clark Lounge
  • Wednesday, October 1, 10:00-11:30 a.m., Clark Lounge
