Would interning in Washington, D.C., be the right step for your future career? Then consider applying for the Washington, D.C., Unpaid Summer Internship Scholarship!
If you're considering interning during the summer of 2009 in an unpaid (or travel-stipend only) position then you should apply for this scholarship. The dollar amount varies annually but averages in the $1,500 to $2,000 range.
One recipient is selected each spring to receive this scholarship, which is intended to aid in the payment of tuition for that internship and/or defray living expenses for the summer experience. Applications will be released late in the fall semester and will be due in mid-March.
Completed applications must include an essay, indication of internship site choice; upon notification of the award, a signed letter from your internship supervisor also must be provided.
Students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in fall 2009 with a GPA of at least 3.0 and good judicial standing are eligible to apply. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need for the 2009-10 school year, as determined through their financial aid documentation.
As you think about your plans for next summer, keep this scholarship in mind. Stop by the Office of Career Services (in the Gannett Center, underneath the library) for further information and stay tuned later in the semester for an announcement that the application materials are available.
Funding for this scholarship is provided through the generosity of alumni residing in the Washington, D.C., area.
