Ashley Patane '09 and Peter Pasco '09 were recently awarded 2008-9 Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) scholarship awards. Ashley and Peter, both integrated marketing communications (IMC) majors, each will receive $1,375 to be used toward tuition expenses.
Ashley has been an active member in IC's American Advertising Federation (AAF) student chapter and, for the past two summers, has successfully completed internships at AJ Ross Advertising, Marketing, and Design, and, most recently, at Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. The latter was awarded Ashley through the AAF Stickell Internship Program, which designated her as one of the top 15 AAF students in the United States. Her professional interest is in the area of account planning.
Likewise, Peter has been a very active member of AAF, most recently serving as its secretary and webmaster. During the past two summers, Peter was a creative intern at TH Outdoor and Events and, most recently, was a project management intern at Saatchi and Saatchi Healthcare Advertising, which he was awarded through the AAAA Multicultural Advertising Intern Program. After graduation, he plans to pursue his career interest in account management.
AWNY was founded in 1912 as the first women's association in the communications industry. The organization now consists of more than 1,400 dynamic, influential women and men representing the advertising, marketing, media, promotion, and public relations fields. AWNY is an active affiliate of the American Advertising Federation.
