Come hear Ithaca College graduate Bronwyn Cooke speak about the exciting and interactive education programs at Boston's New England Aquarium, a global leader in ocean exploration and marine conservation. The aquarium is one of the premier visitor attractions in Boston, with over 1.3 million visitors a year, and is a major public education resource.
The seminar will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, in the Center for Natural Sciences 115; it is free and open to all.
The Boston institution is redefining what it means to be an aquarium, combining education, entertainment and action to address the most challenging problems facing the ocean. Through a wide variety of educational programs and conservation initiatives, it is making a lasting global impact.
Bronwyn Cooke has worked for several years as a visitor programs specialist at the aquarium, helping to further its missions of increasing understanding of aquatic life and environments, enabling people to act to conserve the world of water, and providing leadership for the preservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources.
She coordinates numerous visitor activities at the aquarium and presents educational programs in local schools. Previous experience includes work on invasive species with the Massachusetts Coastal Zone Management Program, and coordinating field research projects and environmental education programs in the U.S. and Caribbean.
