Come listen to two students' experiences from Israel and the West Bank and be a part of a community discussion on Tuesday, October 7,
from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Williams Hall, room 222.
Most Americans do not know the history of the conflict in Israel & Palestine and so cannot recognize gaps and distortions in the public record. Many people are interested in the conflict and would like to better understand it, but they don't know where to start. The history is complicated and mainstream media doesn't provide the full story.
Ithaca College student Andrea Levine and Cornell student Maurice Chammah spent their summers in Israel and the West Bank and would like to share their experiences with you and start an ongoing dialogue about these complex, controversial issues. They wish to convey the real stories of Palestinians and Israelis that have been silenced. Their time was spent going through checkpoints between Israel and the West Bank-between friends, NGO's, activists, and families. They return with information on the current situation on the ground in Israel and Palestine, the many competing narratives of how to understand the situation, and prospects for the future. They will have maps, photos, music, and videos.
A community discussion will follow. This event will be the start of an ongoing dialogue about the conflict in Palestine and Israel.
"From Tel Aviv to Jenin Camp" is a free event & open to the general public.
