During Campus Sustainability Day on October 22, 2008, dining services will be piloting trayless dining during all meals in the Towers dining hall.
Trayless dining conserves energy by reducing the hot water consumption to wash trays and electricity to run washers. It also reduces food waste and promotes healthy or smaller portioned eating.
Trayless dining is just one part of a new sustainability initiative called PLANit -- “The future is in our hands.” Ithaca Dining Services’ PLANit program will focus on environmental, social, and economic awareness and embrace sustainability initiatives by sharing statistics and setting goals for the Ithaca College Community.
Dining services invites you to be a part of this event; to learn more about how trayless dining can help Ithaca College reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and to give comments and suggestions to improve dining services and trayless dining.
If you would like to make a difference and volunteer for this event contact Stephanie Piech at spiech1@Ithaca.edu.
