Junior and senior H&S students with outstanding academic records and financial aid eligibility are invited to apply for the Fred L. Emerson Humanities Collaboration Award that supports faculty/student collaboration on scholarly projects in the Humanities. The deadline to submit a formal proposal for spring 2009 semester projects is Monday, November 3.
Student applicants must be majoring or minoring in the humanities (art history, English, history, modern languages and literatures, philosophy/religion, speech communication, and writing). This award encourages both students and faculty to carry out professional collaborations in the humanities, including such projects as archival research, manuscript editing, and course development.
The award offers a $1,500 stipend during the spring semester to enable student recipients to devote time and attention to the work required to succeed in such scholarly projects.
Both student applicants and their faculty mentors must submit materials as part of the proposal process.
Guidelines and Application Forms
Formal proposals should be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on November 3 to Lynn Tordella in the H&S dean's office, 201 Muller Center. Please note that, later this academic year, there will be a separate round of proposals for projects to be undertaken in summer 2009 or during the 2009-10 academic year.
Questions about eligibility, specific projects, or application procedures can be addressed to Stacia Zabusky, assistant dean in the School of Humanities and Sciences (274-3102, szabusky@ithaca.edu).
