The IC physics department will host a workshop for college-level astronomy teachers October 16-17 as part of the 40th annual meeting of Division of Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society. Edward Prather and Gina Brissenden of the NASA Center for Astronomy Education at the University of Arizona will lead the workshop.

The main goal is for participants to become familiar with learner-centered teaching and assessment materials and methods for implementing them in their college astronomy courses.

The event will be held in the Performance-Based Physics Laboratory (room 208) in the Center for Natural Sciences. Assistant professor of physics Luke Keller helped organize the workshop and will serve as the local host for the event.
