Patricia Zimmermann, professor of cinema, photography, and media arts and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, has been named one of four jurors for the 28th Black Maria Film and Video Festival.

The Black Maria takes its name from Thomas Edison's pioneering 1893 film studio. The Black Maria Film and Video Festival focuses on short works which electrify and engages viewers with imaginative and exploratory forms and thoughtful, poetic insight into human concerns such as environmental, social, and political issues.

The other jurors include Scott MacDonald of Hamilton College and Harvard University; Duana Butler of WNET; and Jenny He of the Museum of Modern Art.
