The Microsoft Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0 is now available for download from ITS.
This software allows users of Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac to open, edit and save Word, Excel and PowerPoint files that were created in newer versions of Office (Office 2008 for Mac and Office 2007 for Windows). These newer versions of Office use a file format called Open XML and users of Office 2004 can easily work with the new file formats if their Mac has the converter installed.
The converter is located at https://www.ithaca.edu/computing/support/software.php (look for the Microsoft products). Be sure to follow all of the installation instructions to ensure that your Mac has the necessary updates prior to installing the converter. Also read the Known Issues section for further information.
ITS is currently evaluating and testing Office 2008 for Mac.
