Janice Elich Monroe, associate professor in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies, presented a session entitled, "Civic Engagement through Membership in Professional Organizations," at the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) conference held in Reno, Nevada, on October 1, 2008.

Professor Monroe is in the second year of her term on the ATRA board of directors and participated in the board meeting at this conference.

In addition, Monroe had an article, entitled "Recreational Therapy: Healing Body and Spirit," published in the September/October edition of Stroke Connection magazine.
