An interview with Deb Mohlenhoff, assistant director for community service and leadership development, will air on WHCU 870-AM on Friday, October 24, at 6:15 a.m.
Deb will speak on the College's participation in USA Weekend magazine's Make A Difference Day, a national day of community service.
Upwards of a hundred IC students will be active this Friday and Saturday in five service events:
- South Hill Community Clean-Up
- Strength in Numbers 5K Run and Walk to benefit the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes
- Bomber Buddies Program, an initiative in which IC students attend a Bombers football game with Spencer-Van Etten Middle School students and parents in order to talk with young people from a rural area about the value of a college education
- Reception for students active in Stop Wasting Ithaca's Food Today, a program that delivers surplus food from the dining halls to local food pantries
- Launch of Stone Soup, a new campus philanthropy program to support the local United Way
Last year three million people nationwide took part in Make A Difference Day.
