Volcanoes, Native Hawaii, and Beach Ethnography -- Winter Intersession Class in Hawaii

There are still spaces available for The Anthropological Experience in Hawaii 3-credit winter session course, which takes place December 28, 2008, through January 14, 2009. Sign up now!

Join us for an exciting and educational excursion to Hawaii this winter in The Anthropological Experience in Hawaii course (ANTH 38200, 3 credits).

Join faculty members Brooke Hansen and Jack Rossen, along with native Hawaiian guides, to explore the history, culture, archaeology, and environment of the Hawaiian islands, including a trip to Volcanoes National Park.

We paddle Hawaiian-style in outrigger canoes; hike in rain forests; swim with the endangered honu (sea turtle); learn about Native Hawaiian cultures and struggles; and explore economic industries such as tourism, the Kona coffee region, and the recent production of chocolate on the Big Island.
