The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to announce that Karen Kettering, vice president and specialist of Russian works of art at Sotheby's New York, will deliver a talk entitled "Darker Shades of Red: Socialist Realism and Official Soviet Propaganda from the Cold War Era" at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3.

Kettring's talk is in conjunction with the current Handwerker exhibition, "Darker Shades of Red: Official Soviet Propaganda from the Cold War," which examines Cold War Communist beliefs and offers an unique snapshot of life in a totalitarian society.

This event is cosponsored by the Department of History and the Department of Art History. For further information, please contact Genevieve Kocienda, Handwerker Gallery outreach coordinator, at gkocienda@ithaca.edu.
