The following guidelines are used by the Office of Residential Life to process early arrival requests for the spring 2009 semester. Please review these as you begin to plan for spring opening.
1. Early arrivals are those students required to arrive on campus prior to the regular check-in date of Saturday, January 17, 2009, because of student employment, academic requirement, or for athletic or sponsored organization participation.
2. Early arrival requests for the above reasons must be made by the IC department establishing the requirement. Please include only those students whose early arrival is required prior to spring opening.
3. The earliest date an arrival request will be accommodated is for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Students may not return to their rooms prior this time and are subject to a $100 unauthorized presence fee if found in a closed residence hall.
4. To request a student or students (we prefer that multiple students be listed on an Excel spreadsheet) arrive early, submit an e-mail to breakhousing@ithaca.edu which includes the following information:
* Student name
* ID number
* Reason for return
* Department
* Arrival date requested
5. Early arrival requests must be submitted to the Office of Residential Life by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009. Late requests are unable to be considered.
6. Early arrivals who are changing housing assignments must return to their fall room assignment. These students will be able to move into their new housing assignment on Thursday, January 15, 2009.
We encourage you to provide meal arrangements for any student you request to return early, as students without special meal arrangements will be unable to use their meal plan until brunch on Saturday, January 17, 2009. If your department wishes to make meal plan arrangements, please contact the Office of Conference and Event Services. Otherwise, please notify your students that they can purchase an individual meal plan through the Office of Conference and Event Services.
