The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology was well represented at the annual convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, held in Chicago November 18-20, 2008.

Numerous presentations by faculty students and a parent covered a range of topics, many collaborative or interdisciplinary in nature including:

  • "Bring It on Home: Inclusion and AAC for Homeschoolers," a poster presentation by graduate students Jennifer Grove and Nicole Masula, parent Karen Warfle, and faculty member Elizabeth Begley
  • "CEPAM: A Model Accent Modification Program for College Students," a poster presentation by faculty member Marie Sanford and graduate students Stephanie Mathias and Julia Henderson
  • "Semantic Scrutiny: Survey Results of Child Interviewing Protocol," a second poster presentation by Marie Sanford, graduate students Victoria Munsterman and Michele Segalini, and alumnus Elizabeth Pia-Miller
  • "Creating Word Documents That Include Phonetic Symbols," a technical session and poster presentation; and "A Taxonomy of the Picture-Text Relationships in Books for Preschoolers," both by department chair Luanne Andersson
  • "Transfuse Your Teaching," a two-hour session by Professor Barbara Ann Johnson
  • "Embracing Technological Change during Clinical Education: An Interactive Web-Based Module," a poster presentation by SLP clinic director Christine Cecconi and former Ithaca College instructional technology employee David Coleman, now a private consultant

An open house hosted by Dean Steven Siconolfi of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance also drew an impressive number of alumni and friends of Ithaca College from around the county.
