What happens if you have an accident with an IC or rented vehicle while on an IC trip? Would you know what to do?Contributed by Kathryn Totman on 02/03/09
If you are using an IC owned/rented/leased vehicle or a rental car (Enterprise, etc.) to be used for IC business you need to know what to do if you are involved in an accident - be it your fault or "the other guy". If someone drives a College or rental vehicle for College business and is not designated as an approved driver by the Office of Risk Management, and/or does not follow the accident procedures, his/her campus department may be responsible for the full expense for damage, loss, etc. If this occurs, the Office of Risk Management will assess the accident details to determine if procedures have or have not been followed. Please follow this link to review the motor vehicle accident procedures: These applies to students as well as staff and faculty - please make your student drivers aware! |
