Phoebe Constantinou, assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, presented a paper entitled, "Making the Learning Process Personable" at the 71st annual conference of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Verona, New York on November 21, 2008.

The paper discussed how a pedagogy course for the preservice physical educators could be personable and meaningful for each individual student. This was an interactive, audience-centered session that focused on three major concepts: a) built upon what learners know, which will empower them, b) what they need to know, which will make them explore and c) how learners come to know, which will teach them the act of learning.
