What: In February 2009 we will be launching the household survey component of COMPASS II-2.0. We are looking for volunteers to offer their time and skills to conduct telephone interviews with households in Tompkins County. This is a great opportunity to learn more about your community and help out with an interesting, valuable project. When: Evenings and weekends in February & March, 2009. We will have slots open Monday-Thursday 5pm-9pm and Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm throughout the month. COMPASS II-2.0 is a follow-up to the 2002-2003 COMPASS II, needs and asset assessment. Through an assessment of both the needs and the strengths of our community, COMPASS II provided an important baseline of data to inform efforts to make Tompkins County a stronger community and was a widely-used tool that galvanized the resources of local individuals, businesses, and organizations. COMPASS II-2.0 will offer the opportunity to continue this valuable venture by re-examining the needs and assets of Tompkins County to establish our progress in addressing the most pressing issues facing residents as well as identify the areas of accomplishment in resource development and emerging areas of need. COMPASS II-2.0 is sponsored by the United Way of Tompkins County and conducted by the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County. |
