Ithaca Urban Education Program

Contributed by Nancy Kotmel on 02/17/09

Submitted on behalf of Deborah Curry, director, Washington Semester Program.

President Barack Obama has asked all of us to help in renewing America's promise. You, as future educators, are at the center of President Obama's message of hope. What better place to answer the President's call than participating in an Urban Education Program in Washington, D.C.?

The Urban Education Program will give you a competitive advantage in today's competitive market. The program will allow education students to take a course in Urban Education and an internship in a school or community based organization. The course and internship fulfill the requirements for a foundation course and early field experience.

Washington, D.C., is a rich, warm, vibrant, historical, cultural, and international city. According to Kiplinger's magazine for finance and business, Washington, D.C., is rated as the number-one "best city for young singles" because of its cornucopia of opportunities inside and outside of government.

Future educators from all majors are invited to an information session, Wednesday, February 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Six Mile Creek Room. Please attend and learn about the value of getting an urban education experience.

For further information or to RSVP, e-mail gps@ithaca.edu or call the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies at 607-274-3264.
