Bombers Dominate Conference Wrestling Championships; Quailfy Seven for NationalsContributed by Michael Warwick on 02/24/09 The wrestling team, ranked seventh nationally, will be sending seven competitors to the NCAA Championships (March 5-6 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) after winning the team title at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) championships. Only two schools will be sending more wrestlers to nationals than Ithaca, who crowned four individual champions and earned three of the conference's five wild-card selections. Freshman Seth Ecker (125 pounds), junior Chad Winowich (133), sophomore David Priest (174) and freshman Chris Carabello (197) all won their weight classes. Senior John Paxos (141), sophomore Blaine Woszczak (149) and junior Willie Horwath (157) were picked as wild-cards. The seven NCAA qualifiers is the program's highest total since 1994, when the Bombers won their third national title. Ithaca coach Marty Nichols '90 was named ECWC Coach of the Year.
