Need to Drive an IC Vehicle This Summer or Next Fall?Contributed by Kathryn Totman on 03/16/09 Students who need to drive College-owned and leased/rented vehicles are required to take a free, two-hour driver safety class, which will be conducted on campus by the College’s insurance company on the dates listed below for the spring 2009 semester. This policy is in the interest of student safety and sound risk management. Students who will be driving Ithaca College vehicles need to: -Must be 21 years old at the time they drive, but may take the class before 21 -Register for a class by visiting the Office of Risk Management, Job Hall 3. -Complete the required Driver Information Form (http://ithaca.edu/riskmanagement/forms/mvr_welcome_page.htm) – approval is a 14-business day process (must be done each year). -Print and familiarize yourself with the Ithaca College Handbook (http://ithaca.edu/riskmanagement/manual/student_handbook.pdf). You must know the College policies and regulations contained within the Handbook prior to driving College vehicles and transporting passengers.
These will be the ONLY classes available for those who need to drive during the summer.
Students who take the driver class and pass the test with a score of 80% or higher will be eligible to drive College vehicles for one year from date of class completion. After one year, students will only be required to take a brief written test and must score 80% or higher.
