We have programs here on campus that may help you accomplish your goals.

Seniors! Do you know that the Education Department offers a one year intensive master's degree program leading to teaching certification in either childhood education or middle/secondary teaching in a specific subject area? If you are an H&S major, you may be eligible for one of these programs. There are graduate assistantships available and tuition is at a reduced rate. For additional information, please check the Education Department website or contact Dr. Linda Hanrahan lhanrahan@ithaca.edu, Chair of Graduate Programs in Education.

Freshmen! Are you interested in elementary education? The Education Department is starting a new "Stay for Five!" program next year for students who would like to become elementary school teachers. In this program, you would become part of a cohort group while you are completing your undergraduate major. You'll have the opportunity to take courses and participate in field placements in area schools that will prepare you for a fifth year of graduate work leading to a master's degree and certification as an elementary school teacher. Tuition costs for the graduate year are reduced and there are graduate assistantships available. For more information on this program, please contact Prof. Pat Tempesta at Tempesta@ithaca.edu.
