Thoroughly Modern Millie was first brought to Broadway in 2002 as a stage adaptation of the 1967 film of the same name starring Julie Andrews. It tells the story of the young Millie Dillmount, determined to become a new modern woman by marrying for money and making it big in New York. Five minutes into her new life and one mugging later, Millie realizes she needs more than a fresh start to make it big in this town. By striking up a few friendships and through her own never-ending supply of determination, gumption, and a little luck, Millie has her big adventure in the Big City, only not quite the one she was planning on.
