It is with a great deal of sadness that I inform the campus community of the death of one of our students. Julie Carmody, M.S. '10, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 6, at her off-campus residence. The Tompkins County Sheriff's Department says that the circumstances of her death are not considered suspicious.

Julie was a graduate student in speech-language pathology in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. She had earned her undergraduate degree in anthropology from Vassar College in 2007.

Counselors will be available today (Tuesday) from noon to 1:00 p.m. in room 208 of the Center for Health Sciences. Anyone needing help may contact the Counseling Center at 607-274-3136 for more information on support services.

We extend our deepest sympathies, as well as our thoughts and prayers, to Julie's family, friends, professors, and classmates at this difficult time.

Brian McAree
Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life
