Kulmusik, the Ithaca College contemporary music ensemble, will present a free concert on Tuesday, April 14, at 8:15 in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. Under the artistic direction of Sally Lamb, the ensemble brings faculty and students together as fellow performers on works written in the recent past. The program will feature this year's Heckscher Composition Prize winner, "Axioms," by Clint Needham, performed by a student ensemble under the direction of Elizabeth Peterson. Joseph Schwantner's "Black Anemones" will be performed by faculty soprano Linda Larson along with pianist Josh Oxford. Saxophonist Ben Faris and violinist Timothy Ball, both students, will be featured in "Come Down Heavy" by Evan Chambers. Student percussionist Colleen Clark will perform a work by Xenakis, and the program will conclude with a work by Steve Reich for mallet instruments, voices, and organ. |
