Guest Lecture: Seth Wanye, M.D., Visiting Ophthalmologist from GhanaContributed by Lauren Houdek on 04/11/09
Anyone interested in health care, health policy, nonprofit organizations, journalism, or international volunteerism is urged to attend. Dr. Wanye is the only ophthalmologist for 2 million people in Northern Ghana. He currently works at the Eye Clinic of Tamale Teaching Hospital in Northern Ghana and is a member of Unite For Sight's Medical Advisory Board. Born in Ghana, he received his medical degree from Kharkov Medical School (Ukraine) in 1990 and continued graduate studies at Ulianovsk State University (Russia). In May 2004, Dr. Wanye became Regional Ophthalmologist and Coordinator for Trachoma Control Program for Northern Region, Ghana. He is also a part-time lecturer at the University for Development Studies in Tamale. Unite for Sight is an international, non for profit, health care organization dedicated to improving eye health and eye care awareness in the United States and abroad.
