In honor of National Environmental Education Week, educators and enthusiasts are invited to meet informally with their solar cookers to demonstrate, learn, and exchange ideas about this open-ended technology. There will even be materials on hand you can use to build your own solar cooker. According to Shawn Reeves from Energy Teachers.org, "these solar cooking events are not offered to get all preachy about solar cooking; it is rather for educators and enthusiasts to enjoy the fast-increasing sun of spring and gather to discuss things in a social atmosphere, and to slow down to the kind of laid-back feeling one gets when waiting patiently for a solar cooker to do its job, despite all the hectic excitement about upcoming Earth Day duties, 'standardized' tests, college admissions, layoffs and buy-outs and school budgets, pirates, etc." Come enjoy the fun in the sun!
