Assistant professor of psychology Jeffrey Holmes published an article, entitled "Transparency of Self-Report Racial Attitude Scales."  The research appeared in the most recent issue of Basic and Applied Social Psychology.

The study examined the degree to which respondents to contemporary racial attitude surveys are able to manipulate their responses to fit immediate social demands.  The results demonstrated that the average responses of those instructed to portray themselves in a positive light were no different from the responses of those presumably responding honestly.
